A strong work ethic was instilled in the George children as each of them “grew up’ in the grocery business. As did all of her siblings, Cindy worked, at one time or another, in almost every department of the family’s Piggly Wiggly store in Prairie du Chien. After leaving Prairie du Chien, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Wisconsin State University in Platteville, WI. She taught in the elementary grades in Milton, Wisconsin. After several years raising her family, she returned to Wisconsin State University in Platteville to earn a Master’s Degree in Middle Level Education. She rejoined the field of education and spent the remainder of her career teaching math to her favorite age group, middle school. Their enthusiasm for learning perfectly matched Cindy’s enthusiasm for teaching.

Cindy is a past member of NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) and the Hospital Auxiliary. She currently belongs to the Lion’s Club and the Prairie du Chien Historical Society. She is a member of St Peter Lutheran Church and volunteers at the local food pantry.

Now retired, Cindy keeps busy with the George Family Foundation, substitute teaching, reading and visiting her five children and grandchildren. Cindy and her husband Bob live in Prairie du Chien.
